Coleraine ready for IBA Cup semi final

Coleraine travel to Ballymena Bowling Club this Saturday, 10th August, to face NIBA giants Bangor in the IBA Senior Cup semi-final.

The Bannsiders reached the same stage last season, only to lose out to their league rivals Ballymoney by 14 shots at Old Bleach Green, and they will be out to go one stage further this year.

The Lodge Road men were the first Provincial club to win the Irish Cup back in 1921 when they defeated Ballymena in the final and they’ve came close to equalling that achievement on a number of occasions, just falling short at the crucial stage.

A 52 seater bus will be leaving Lodge Road on Saturday afternoon at 12.45pm sharp for the team and supporters, anyone wishing to travel and cheer on the Bannsiders can leave their name on the list provided at the clubhouse before Friday. The match starts at 2pm.

Coleraine suffered an agonising two shot defeat to Cookstown at Gunningmore Park last Monday night.

Ally Davison’s rink continued their good form as they defeated Liam McHugh 23-19, Ian Ross claimed an excellent 22-15 victory over Colin Hogg to set the Bannsiders on the right track for the overall.

However, Jonathan Calvin lost out to Damian McElroy 25-20 and Victor Dallas’ men fell to a lamentable 21-13 loss against Mark Wilson.
