Coleraine slip up again at Brookgreen

COLERAINE'S nightmare start to the Senior League season continued last week as they went down by 20-shots at Brookgreen.

The Lodge Road outfit have won only once this term and currently sit just 3.5 points ahead of basement side Portglenone.

Both teams won two rinks each at Brook Street. Brian Lindsay picked up an excellent 25-shot win over Victor Dallas and Ian Ross added another 10 to the hosts total with victory over Richard McDermott.

Jonathon Calvin hit back for the visitors as he beat Trevor Steele by 11 and mervyn McKeeman also grabbed a four shot win over David Gaile, but it wasn't enough to deny Brookgreen the win, which moved them in to second spot.

Ballymoney are now seven points clear at the top following their 11-shot win at Portglenone. Nicky McCaw, Alastair Steele and Gary Kelly all won their rinks to grab six points for the visitors.

Kilrea lead the way in the Progressive Division Two following their nine shot win at Castlerock. G Reid, B McAlary and I Smyth all won for the visitors with Victor Callaghan replying for the Rock.

Portrush B overcame local rivals Coleraine B by 24 shots at Ramore Head. G Scott and John Weeks did the damage for the home side as they won their rinks. L Hickey picked up a point for Coleraine and the rink between Ken Shannon and Jonathon Elder finished all square.

Newcomers Letterkenny are five points clear in Division Three as they kept their 100% record going with a whitewash win over Ballycastle B.

Second placed Dunluce slipped to an 11-shot defeat at Dungiven and Culrathain moved up into fourth as they beat Portstewart by seven shots.

In the Progressive Sutherland Cup quarter finals Castlerock squeezed out Brookgreen B by a single shot. Ballymoney B had an easier time at Fairhill winning by 22 shots and Ballycastle saw off Cookstown B by 10.

In the last eight of the Progressive Hyland Donaghy Cup Ballycastle steamrollerd Riada by 30 shots, Letterkenny went even better beating Dunluce B by 49 shots and Portstewart got revenge on Culrathain by recording a 53-shot win over their Coleraine opponents.

In the remaining game Omagh beat Dungiven by two shots.
