ST MacNissi's College reached the Ulster Schoolboys' winter league final in matchplay golf.

The team of Ryan McKinstry (capt.), his brother Neil, Michael Abram and Conor McAlister edged out Coleraine Inst. in a very tight semi-final at Royal Portrush.

Ryan was first to tee-off and was three up by the turn and he was able to maintain that advantge through to the 16th where a delicate chip shot gave him a 3/2 win.

Second player out, Conor McAlister, struggled on the front 9 and found himself 4 arrears. Although he pulled one back, his game also ended on the 16th, beaten 3/2.

Michael Abram also lost his game – on the last hole where his opponent sunk a 6-foot putt to claim a 2 stroke victory.

The pressure went on the youngest team-member Neil McKinstry, but a 60 metre pitch shot fell around 8 foot from the hole and Neil successfully putted for a 3/1 win and the Tower were through with a one hole victory.
