College were impressive

LURGAN College Firsts entertained Belfast Royal Academy Thirds at a rain drenched Lough Road and produced an impressive performance despite the conditions to win 26-5.

The College started the game with a high tempo and their commitment and aggression continued right to the final whistle.

Matthew Mathers was first to get on the scoresheet as he burst through three tackles in a strong drive to the line. The impressive number 8, Nicholas Moore was next to register a score as he followed up some strong forward play to touchdown in the corner.

Debutant Stephen Buckley then capped a fine move along the backline by showing great pace to burst through two BRA tackles to score. BRA were quick to reply with a try of their own but the College put the game beyond doubt with an fine individual effort from powerhouse centre Greg Lyness.

Captain Josh McKay kicked three conversions in another virtuoso performance. Best on the day for the College were Nicholas Moore and debutant Andrew Wilson.
