Comfortable win for seconds

On Saturday Ballymoney 2nd XI travelled to play Dromore 2nd XI in the Junior 2 league.

Ballymoney started strong, winning first pass back and from the start were progressively putting pressure on the Dromore defence.

Ballymoney midfield, Alex Halliday, Emma Kirkpatrick and Lauren Mullan co-operated well together creating many attacking opportunities for the travelling Ballymoney side.

The ball was transferred down the left hand side to Cara Ferguson who received the ball in the circle creating space for Sara Gardner to run into the penalty spot.

Cara spun strong and hit the ball to Sara who placed it into the right hand corner of the Dromore goal, for Ballymoney to lead 1-0.

The defence consisting of, Rebecca Greer, Clare Black, Jill Black and Chloe McConaghie remained strong throughout the first half protecting the Ballymoney goal and breaking down the Dromore attack.

Ballymoney started the second half knowing they could build on their first half performance.

Again the midfield were creating play allowing Alex Halliday to set Jessica Moore up with the second goal for Ballymoney.

Dromore began to turn up their pace on attack challenging the Ballymoney defence. A string of penalty corners were defended well by Ballymoney who successfully dealt with the Dromore pressure and shots on goal.

In return Ballymoney stepped up to Dromore’s pressure and created many opportunities for Ballymoney to score once again. After a break down the right hand side Karen Watson was rewarded with a shot that went straight past the Dromore goalkeeper. Ballymoney fought right to the end but were unfortunate to not score again leaving the score, as it was, 3-0 to the Ballymoney side.
