Commonwealth countdown is on

MEMBERS of Monkstown Amateur Boxing Club came out in force this week to wish Commonwealth Games hopeful Steven Ward every success as he sets off for India.

The heavyweight boxer has been hard at work ahead of next month's event in Delhi.

On Monday night Mossley boxer Neil Sinclair, who brought back a gold medal from the Commonwealths in Canada sixteen years ago, was there to present Ward with a cheque from the local club.

"In my eyes, I hope to bring a medal back - it's definitely on my to do list.

Ward's first fight is set to take place on October 5.
