Competition at Islandderry

AN evening competition, with fishing on both lakes from 6pm to midnight, will take place at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore this Saturday.

All interested anglers are asked to contact the Fishery on 07859 074424 for further information or to book a boat.

Despite the inconsistent weather the fish are still bitting well with Lurgan angler James Wright catching and releasing ten trout on a Bloodworm pattern. Lisburn angler Ronnie McFadden was having great success with his own Buzzer patterns on the main lake, releasing twenty plus trout as well as losing one of the resident monster fish, and getting a double hook up with a brace of 4lb plus trout on at the one time!

Other notable catches were John Thompson and Billy Creighton from Belfast who were both fishing a mixture of dries and Buzzers to release thirty trout between them. Danny O’Hare, Castlewellan, released twelve on a orange Blob and Paul Brown, Dromore, released nine.

The lake is in excellent condition for this time of year with no blanket weed at all and anglers are able to cast both floating and sinking lines without any hassle.
