Comrades line up Glenavon friendly

BALLYCLARE Comrades fans are assured of some Premier League action at Dixon Park before the new season kicks off.

Glenavon have already confirmed that they will be providing the opposition on Saturday 24th July and Comrades manager, Gordon Chambers, is confident that others will follow suit.

"I have been in touch with several senior clubs," said Gordon, "but they have been unable to commit themselves to a specific date at present, but have promised to come back to me.

"Similar to last season, I plan to have a full programme of pre-season friendlies mainly against Amateur League teams, but at the moment the only other definite commitment has been from Chimney Corner FC, who will entertain us at Allen Park on Saturday 17th July.

"Meantime we will be making preparations for the Foyle Cup tournament to be held in Derry from 19th -23rd July. This event is a truly international event with teams from England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland as well as some from Europe having competed in previous seasons.

"Last season our Under 18s finished third in their age group, and we will be hoping to put on a good show again this time. As usual we will be taking up the Under 16s and Under 18s and the lads are really looking forward to taking part," added Gordon.
