Moneyslane Ladies 5

Dromara Ladies 0

AFTER a 2-0 win over Craigavon City in their previous match, a confident Moneyslane Ladies team started this NIWFA Division Four clash against Dromara Ladies.

Slane started strong against Dromara and grabbed an early lead when Stephanie Conor played a great ball through to Lynn Johnson who fired it into the top corner from 20 yards.

Moneyslane went on to double their lead minutes later with a great individual effort from Sara Gamble who picked the ball up from 25 yards out, stepped inside her marker and struck a great shot into the corner of the net.

Moneyslane continued to dominate and midway through the first half there was some excellent work down the right hand side from Debbie Whitten who crossed the ball into the box for Kim Lamont who finished first time bringing the score to 3-0.

The rest of this half proved to be one way traffic and it was matter of how many Moneyslane would score.

Kim Lamont’s second goal of the night came from a mix up between the Dromara defence and goal keeper. Kim took advantage, expertly turned her marker and confidently fired the ball into the back of the net.

Lynn Johnson added the fifth goal before half time when Debbie Whitten made another great run down the right hand side and crossed the ball in to the box.

Again the Dromara defence was disorganised and this time the mix up was punished by Lynn Johnson who riffled in her second of the night. Johnson’s hatrick was almost complete on the stroke of half time when she drilled another fine shot in to the back of the net only for the referee to rule it offside.

In the second half, Moneyslane pushed hard but failed to add to their first half haul of goals with chances falling to Lynn Johnson and Sara Gamble. The ‘Slane defence remained strong for the duration of the match and the Dromara attack was unable to find any way through.
