Conn nets four as South 2s hit seven in derby victory

South have been in impressive scoring form this season, racking up 40 goals in just nine league matches.

The foundations for this result were laid early on as South registered two goals in the first four minutes.

Paddy Cochrane scored from the first penalty corner of the match and a minute later Mark Conn scored his first with a tidy finish at the near post.

The home side continued to pile on the pressure as Cochrane beat several Garvey players in the circle and played a deft pass for Conn to convert.

South Antrim made it four before half-time when Conn completed his first ever first half hat-trick.

The Lisnagarvey team talk seemed to galvanise the visitors whose response for the early part of the second half was to put South under considerable pressure and claw their way back into a game that was all but gone.

A fine reverse stick shot gave Mark Hutchinson in goal no chance and minutes later a cross from the right of the circle was deflected into goal off the foot of Andy Hanley.

There was hint of a come-back in the offing at this stage, but South steadied the ship and the midfield of Jack Redpath, Paddy Cochrane and James Brown began to regain control of the game.

Whatever hope Lisnagarvey had of grabbing something from the match was brilliantly extinguished in the dying minutes when Ian Glass scored a memorable solo goal when he strode past two Garvey players and launched an unstoppable reverse into the roof of the net.

South added two more in the last few minutes through Cochrane and that man Conn to complete a memorable derby win for the Lisburn men.
