Conor is the Teddy Reade winner

OVER 200 golfers from the Banbridge Club tried to win the Teddy Reade Cup on Saturday April 10.

And it was one of the younger players who triumphed.

Conor Mulholland, who was the juvenile captain last season, shot a three over par gross 72. He was playing off a 10 handicap and that score converted to a winning 45 stableford points. He was delighted to win the cup and equally pleased to be now playing off a single figure handicap.

The juveniles seem to like this competition as Luke Woods won it last year.

Timothy Beattie (16) also had 43 points but he lost out to Conor on countback. But it was not all bad news for Timothy as most of the financial rewards went his way.

The aforementioned Luke Woods made a gallant attempt to hold on to this cup. He finished with 41 points, just two less than Conor. He won the coveted best gross prize with his level par 69.

Michael McGreevey (12) was third with 41 points and Alex Clarke (13) was fourth, also with 41 points.

The remaining prize, that for the best senior player, went to Harold McClements (24) with an excellent score of 40 points. Harold is a wonderful competitor and a real gentleman and everyone was delighted to hear of his success.

Robin Jardine (26), Trevor Mulholland (12) and Stuart Hunter (5) each had 40 points and all they got was a one shot reduction to their handicaps.

Ryan Simpson (10), Kenny Whan (17), Dominic McArdle (24) and Jim Cochrane (12) all broke the CSS by one shot, finishing with 39 points.

The calculated standard scratch was was nett 67 or 38 stableford points. This was equalled by Trevor Savage (26), Tom Fee (12), Jack Bickerstaff (20) and Rory Madeley (5).

The proud holder of the Teddy Reade Cup for 2010 is Conor Mulholland and let’s hope that this victory is the first of many for this fine young player.
