Cookstown swimming

FRIDAY 1st June was the climax of the Forest Feast Aquasprint Junior swimming league, with 1,500 swimmers, aged 8-12 competing across eight venues throughout Northern Ireland to end a fantastic season of swimming.

The league is split into four divisions, with the top three teams from each competing to become overall section winners and receive the Forest Feast AquaSprint trophy, with promotion for the winners of sections B, C & D. Forest Feast sent a representative with a photographer to each of the four finals to capture the action as it took place.

Dungannon was the venue for the Division B final, with Dungannon, Lurgan and Cookstown all in contention for promotion to Division A. Led out by the team captains, the teams lined up for their official photographs, decked out in their Forest Feast hats before the gala began. It was an extremely close gala with minimal points between teams right up until the final relays. The supporters made sure to keep their team motivated throughout with shouts and cheers from poolside and the gallery. The results saw Dungannon, who were only promoted to this division at the end of last season, take the gold and gain promotion to the top flight! Cookstown came in only 4 points behind the winners to take silver and Lurgan claimed the bronze.
