Cougars ready to roar!

The club takes place every Tuesday night at Loreto College Sports Hall, Castlerock Road, Coleraine from 7pm to 8.45pm. The cost on your first night of training will be £8 (£5 annual athlete registration fee and £3 club fee) and £3 per night thereafter.

Head Coach, Jonathan McFadden, Active Communities, Coleraine Borough Council said: “We currently have 25 athletes ranging from 6 to 33 years who are training with the club and are in the process of entering teams in the Special Olympics Ulster Basketball League and training towards the Ulster Regional Games in march 2013.

“The club is open to anyone with an intellectual disability with the emphasis on participating and enjoying basketball in a fun and safe environment no matter what your ability.”

Any athlete who wishes to join the club must have completed an Athlete Participation Form, obtained from the club at the contact details below. Section six of the form needs to be signed off by their doctor to grant their participation in the programme. Completed forms should be returned to Coleraine Cougars Special Olympics Club, c/o Coleraine West Community Centre, The Rope Walk, Coleraine, BT51 3EZ. Interested athletes are advised to return completed forms as soon as possible as participation in the club’s activities cannot commence until the registration process has been completed.

The club is also seeking people who wish to volunteer their services to help with training and club games.
