Country sports extravaganza at Dunalis Reservoir

A beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon saw the first jointly organised summer event held by Coleraine Anglers' Association and the North West Gun Club at Dunalis Reservoir, Windyhill Road, Coleraine.

Activities kicked off with an angling competition and finished with an excellent barbecue which served up freshly caught Dunalis rainbow trout and pheasant casserole in addition to the more usual fare.

Throughout the afternoon a number of displays and demonstrations took place. These included taxidermy, stick making, wildfowl and pigeon decoying, a ‘punt gun’, fly dressing and hounds from the local Route Hunt.

Both club committees would like to thank Smyth Country Sports, Outdoor and Country Sports, Lime Market Bistro, the Village Tavern, Moorbrook Lodge and all of the individual club members who presented prizes on the day.

This generosity means that a considerable donation from the proceeds will shortly be made on behalf of both clubs to a worthy local charity.
