The rest seemed to make everyone that bit more determined and focussed. The standard of scoring was fantastic.

Seamus Rooney and Colin Kennedy both had 35 points and they must have fancied their chances of winning.

But along came Robert Canning with a superb score of 36 points. Robert, playing of 19, dropped only 4 shots over the 13 holes course. That was impressive golf by any standards.

The sharpshooter of the day was Nigel Bryson who had three 2’s, at the 10th, 12th and 15th. Seamus Rooney, winner of the low section, wasn’t far behind with two 2’s.

It’s warming up to being an exciting season.

Sweep Results

Sunday January 11th:

John Doran held the record for the most wins over a year in the Sunday Sweep for a long time. He had 5 wins in 2010 and that wasn’t beaten until last year when John Poots and Colin Smylie both had 6 wins. Big John is determined to get that record back and he has got off to the best of starts. It could be a very interesting year.

1st- John Doran (13) Nett 31.5.

There is a new determination about Brian Mulholland this year. He seems more relaxed and at ease with his game.

He could be a force to be reckoned with both in the competitions and on the teams.

It was a rewarding day for Fergie Cosgrove as he had the only 2 on the day and scooped the entire pot.

1st- Brian Mulholland (12) 28 points.
