Craig and James make it a double

THE Northern Ireland karate squad enjoyed double success last weekend by taking two crowns at the British Karate Federation championships when Britain’s finest karate athletes descended on the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow in a bid to clinch a major title at the showcase event.

Lisburn’s Craig Ryan, took the first title at the event in the male cadet free fighting event.

Later on, Belfast’s James Brunton breezed through the men’s preliminary rounds in his weight category to take his fifth British championship title.
