Craig captures Tandragee prize with leading tally

Jonathan Craig posted 45 points off his 12 handicap to wrap up success on Sunday in the Club Stableford.

Craig finished in front of Gary Williamson by two points, with two players level in the race to complete the top-three positions.

Jim Keery and Denis McCourt both scored 38 points but the former edged out the latter courtesy of a better back nine and tally of 20.

McCourt had to settle for fourth after registering 19 points across his return leg.

In the Open Stableford on Saturday, Denver Jameson came out on top with 39 points.

Three players joined Jameson on that 39-point score but a back-leg 20 and 14 from the final six holes proved decisive in the overall running order.

Paul Topley claimed runner-up position thanks to 13 points on the back six, with Robin Kenny next in line after 12 from the same stretch.

Ken Rowe’s run of 19 points over the back nine secured fourth and Colin Bruce was fifth on 38 overall.

Neale Conn lifted the gross prize thanks to 72 to see off Stuart Paul on the countback.

The Yellow Block competition was won by Malcolm Lynch on 33 points.

In the ladies’ section, the Fairways Restaurant-sponsored club prize featured section wins for Lavern Saunders, Margaret Kerr and Alison Magowan.

Saunders won section A on 76 nett, with Kerr first in section B thanks to 85 nett and Magowan the final section winner with C’s top tally of 77 nett.

The President’s Cup Open Mixed Greensomes featured the Moorhead father-and-daughter pairing of Geoff and Kathryn first overall with 42 points.

The competition - sponsored by Mobile Equipment Enclosures - featured Basil Brown and Vivienne Loney next home on 39 points. The Gillespies, William and Carol, were third, also on 39 points.
