Academy face Armagh test

Academy Cricket Club’s 1st X1 will host league leaders Armagh on Saturday (August 11) at the Castle Grounds.

The first fixture against Armagh was rained off in early June, leaving Academy still with both League games to fulfil.

The local side have struggled to get back on track in the league after winning their first four matches. The recent run of bad weather has not helped, with the lads not winning a match since May, although they are still in thirdrd position in Northern Cricket Union’s Section 2.

Two wins against Armagh would put Academy right back in the hunt for the League title, with other contenders Cooke Collegians and Millpark also dropping vital points recently.

The Academy squad will be without Jonny Irons who has been unavailable due to illness, but will have a strong line-up including Mark Shields (captain), Andrew Magee, Danny Morgan, Michael Harte, David Greenlees, Danny McFadden, Jonathan King, Chris Halliday, James Sherrard, Ricky Wilson, Andrew Forbes, and Brian Boyd.
