Bready ready to host Aussies

BREADY Cricket Club have indicated their desire to host the four-day clash with Australia A, scheduled to take place from June 14-17.

Cricket Ireland have yet to discuss a venue for the high profile clash, but the willingness of Bready to facilitate the game may well swing it in their favour.

The game takes place between a Friday and Sunday - in the middle of the scheduled second round cup games in the various Unions.

The respective Unions recently agreed to standardise fixtures throughout Ireland in an attempt to free up dates for the new first-class Inter-regional games which get under way in 2013.

The North West clubs and Union are believed to have offered a degree of flexibility in switching these cup dates which may not be so readily agreed in other provinces.

A club spokesman said: “Obviously Bready would be very interested in hosting a four-day game against Australia A. We have invested heavily in a ground and facilities that we believe are as good as any in Ireland and we want to be hosting the biggest matches.

“I also believe the North West public would support this game given the fact that the visitors will undoubtedly be bringing a very strong squad.”
