Britton inspires Donemana win

DONEMANA retained the Midweek Cup on Friday evening when they were too strong for a spirited Bonds Glen at the Holm.

Batting first, the hosts posted an imposing 167 for 7 in their 20 overs. Paul Britton was the mainstay of the holders' batting, blasting 6 fours and 6 sixes as he finished unbeaten on 69. William McClintock was also in impressive form, the young opener making a solid 47 whilst there were 2 wickets apiece for Derek Curry and Willie Jackson.

The Bee Gees started at the right pace, but lost a steady stream of wickets as Geoff McGonigle (3 for 27), Sammy McElhatton (3 for 33) and Christopher Neely (2 for 28) proved more than a handful for them.

William Moore (30) and Raymond Clemison (20 not out) threatened briefly with a 50-run partnership but the hosts had a comfortable 49 runs in hand at the end.

Umpire Dermot Ward nominated Paul Britton as his man of the match as the Midweek Cup stayed at the Holm for another year.
