Campbell notches two half-centuries for TCC

Opting to bat first, Richard Greer’s lads posted an impressive 256 in 49.3 overs, with Artie Campbell notching his second half-century in 24 hours.

His top score of 61 included 3 fours and a six, and Greer also chipped in with a half-century before being out for 52, while the club’s overseas player, Bob Homani, just missed out with 47.

Jordan Carlisle, batting down the order, weighed in with a late 32, and he was only the second player to register a six, while the top partnership of the afternoon was between Campbell and Greer, who added 86 for the fourth wicket.

Robert Smith’s off-breaks had the locals in a spin, with his 6 for 33 being mainly responsible for the hosts being restricted to 165 in 31.4 overs.

Carlisle 2 for 26, Ross Bryans 1 for 46 and Jason McAuley 1 for 13 also bowled well.

“That is only our second-ever win in Dundrum,” said skipper Greer, “and with three wins from six matches, we have moved clear of the relegation zone.”

A half-century by Artie Campbell failed to earn any Senior League Section 1 points for Templepatrick on Saturday as they lost out to Derriaghy by three wickets.

Only skipper Richard Greer with 26 and James Jackson with 23 provided meaningful support, as the hosts were restricted to 202 in their 50 overs at The Cloughan, where Lewis and Jennings were the main wicket-takers.

The Lisburn side’s overseas player, Aphale, proved to be a match-winner with a masterful innings, but he just missed out on a century by running out of overs when he finished on 95 not-out.

Carlisle was the home side’s most successful bowler with 4 for 57, while the other wickets were claimed by Robert Smith with 2 for 37 and Jordi Fettis with 1 for 30.
