Century for Bell as Colts side reach semi finals

Derriaghy Seconds recorded their 7th league win of the season, when they defeated Cooke Collegians by 3 wickets at Shaws Bridge.

Batting first the home side totalled 147 for 6 with J Torrans 2 for 22 being the most successful bowler. In reply Derriaghy had a few hiccups in reaching the required runs but thanks to C Crookshanks 38, C Moorhead 24 and H Cartmill 21 got home with 5 overs to spare.

Meanwhile, the Colts team had a very impressive cup win at home against Premier league side North Down in the quarter finals. North Down racked up a very reasonable 222 for 4 from their 25 overs with many of the home bowlers struggling to find their rhythm. This total paled into insignificance once openers Peter Bell and Curtis Moorhead got into their stride. Curtis fell one short of his 50, but it was Bell along with Travis Moorhead, who hit his maiden half century, that took the game away from the visitors. Travis was dismissed with still 18 runs required but Bell remained to the end bringing up his century with 2 x 4s and then striking another boundary to reach the winning target with 14 balls to spare. Peter’s exhibition in his 104 not out brought loud applause and they now have a home semi final against Lurgan.
