Cody Chetty is the new professional at Lisburn CC

The original choice was the exciting South African Henrich Klassen who had already proved his worth with a good score against the travelling English team back in October.

However, Heinrich has developed a long term injury and had to pull out of his commitment to Lisburn just a few weeks ago.

His place has been taken by another South African, the 24 year old Cody Chetty, who is currently playing for franchise team Dolphins, having already turned out for KwaZulu-Natal, both high profile sides.

Jody is a right hand batsman who bowls right arm off spin, so will be a useful all-round acquisition to the Lisburn team.

He averages almost 36 in his first class career of 66 matches and has a very decent strike rate of 118 when he plays in the shorter form of the game-[20/20].

New Lisburn captain, Adam Berry will be looking forward to the fresh season with his professional and his team will also have two more new faces.

Ex Ballymena all-rounder Steve Lazars who has decided to move to Lisburn after many years at Eaton Park.

He will contribute with both bat and ball and will be especially useful with his left arm spin.

With both last season’s wicket keepers unavailable, namely Steven Allen and Neil Kilpatrick, Lisburn are pleased to welcome a fresh face behind the stumps, Simon Olford from North West club Bready.

He comes with a good pedigree being able to bat well in the middle order.

With a number of changes in the personnel, Lisburn will be looking forward to the new season which starts with a very difficult Premier League fixture against Waringstown in the Park on the 30th April followed by the first local derby against newly promoted Derriaghy away on 21st May.

In between those games Lisburn play Lurgan at Pollock Park in the first round of the Challenge Cup and Pembroke away, in the opening round of the Irish Cup; quite a severe start to the programme for 2016.
