CRICKET: Carrick back in the big time

Carrickfergus Cricket Club 1st XI will return to the Ulster Bank Premier League after a two-year absence after two comfortable home victories secured the NCU Section 1 league title over the weekend.

The Middle Road men cruised past relegated Dundrum on Saturday before seeing off Downpatrick on Sunday afternoon.

It rounds off a superb season of trophy successes for Iain Parkhill’s men who have won the league title, the National Cup, the Ulster Shield and the T20 Trophy - an unprecedented achievement.
