Cricket: Larne II to take on Templepatrick III

Larne Cricket Club’s second-team are gearing up to take on Templepatrick III in Ballyclare tomorrow.

The Northern Cricket Union Junior League 8 match, which will be played at The Cloughan, is one of only a handful of fixtures scheduled for July 11.

Last time out, Larne travelled to Bangor IV and recorded a surprise 70-run victory. The result moved the Sandy Bay men joint-top of their league on 16 points along with three other sides.

Larne batted first and posted an impressive total of 198-5 from their 30 overs.

Steven Brennan top-scored with a superb 80, including six fours and a six. He was supported by Eddie Wilson’s fine 64. The pair posted a second wicket partnership of 130 as Larne recorded their highest score of the season.

Jack Mitchell was the pick of the bowlers with 4-28 from his six overs.

Templepatrick III were set to travel to CSNI IV last Sunday (July 5) but the match was postponed due to ground unavailability and will be rescheduled.

Colin Latham’s side were awarded a win in their last outing (June 28) after Downpatrick III were found to have fielded two ineligible players.
