CRICKET: Larne progress to Twenty20 Shield final

Larne Cricket Club are through to this year’s final of the Northern Cricket Union Twenty20 Shield.

They defeated Holywood by four wickets at Sandy Bay to book their spot in the showpiece.

Chris Dempsey’s men face Armagh at The Mall on July 16 to battle it out for the trophy.

Dempsey recorded strong bowling figures of three for 19 in Thursday night’s clash, as Holywood posted 116 for nine.

Eddie Hunter (30), Chris Keenan (27) and Dempsey (26) helped the locals reach their target as Larne recorded 117 for six.

Larne entertain Holywood in a NCU League Section 2 match on Saturday (July 4).
