CRICKET: Larne’s poor form compounded by Edgar’s ruthless bowling

Relegated Larne’s miserable league form rumbled on when they lost by 10 wickets to Laurelvale on Saturday.

The visitors’ Lee Edgar racked up his 50th wicket of the season when he took four for nine as Larne posted 74 at Sandy Bay.

In reply, Laurelvale were 75-0. D. Henry was 42 not-out and P. Weir was 26 not-out.

The end of the Northern Cricket Union Section 2 season can’t come quick enough for Chris Dempsey’s men. Their league record makes for grim reading: played 16, lost 16.

Larne face a trip to Cregagh this weekend before playing host to table-topping Armagh on September 5.

While the Firsts are preparing for life in Section 3, Larne’s Seconds have also been relegated from NCU Junior League 8.
