Cricket: Premiership leaders Coleraine shocked by Curley’s boys

Leaders Coleraine travelled to Ardmore and lost by 72 runs the home side thanks to an unbeaten 69 from Decker Curry scored 205 for 8 and dismissed the visitors for just 133.

Brigade, in second place, hosted Eglinton and went down by 77 runs.

The Villagers scored 186 thanks to 32 from Richard Wylie and 22 from Ross Allen and then bowled Andy Britton’s men out for 109, with Steven McCloskey, Ross Allen and Craig Averill picking up 3 wickets each.

Donemana defeated Bready by 17 runs in a high scoring game at Magheramason.

The visitors scored 261 for 7 thanks to 110 from Jan Frylinck, David Scanlon’s side fought all the way with David Rankin top scoring with 75 but it was not enough.

St Johnston look doomed after they lost by 19 runs at home to Strabane. The Red Caps scored 207 with Ryan Gallagher and Peter Gillespie scoring 62 and 56 respectively. Despite 56 from Michael Rankin and 45 from Ian McBeth the Saints lost again and still remain at the bottom.

Just two weeks of the season remaining and it is still all to play for at both ends of the table.

Bready v Brigade

Second from bottom play second from top. The home side are still in the play off position and need to win their remaining two games to avoid the play off. They put up a good batting display in last weeks defeat but they need to bowl sides out cheaper.

Brigade’s batsmen, not for the first time this season, were very poor in last weeks defeat and if they are going to win the league that has to improve immediately. This could go either way.

Prediction: Brigade.

Eglinton v Strabane

A few weeks ago this game would have been a relegation battle however both side have turned in some excellent performances and that has pulled them out of danger. Strabane especially have been magnificent and may get another victory.

Prediction: Strabane.

Ardmore v St Johnston

The Bleachgreen side got a great result last week which almost certainly leaves them safe. They will consider this season to have been fairly successful and their young players can only have gained more experience.

The Saints put up a good shown once again last week but once again it was not enough, they know that they must win at least one of their remaining games if they are going to avoid the drop.

Prediction: Ardmore.

Coleraine v Donemana

Certainly the match of the day as the Bannsiders are still in pole position but they have been poor in their last couple of games, can they regroup quickly they will have to.

Donemana, thanks to last week’s results, are back in the hunt however they know that this is a must win game and they will be up for it this one will be tight.
