CRICKET REVIEW: Cliftonville go level at top of Section 2

Cliftonville are the only unbeaten team in Section 2 after a weekend win at Laurelvale. The victory leaves them level at the top of the table with Holywood.

Laurelvale batted first and set Cliftonville a stiff target having been bowled out for 228.

Frazer McFadden was their most successful bowler with three wickets for the third game in a row. Cliftonville chased the runs to win by four wickets with a few overs to spare. Jonny Terrett top scored with 78 not-out bringing his average to 100 for the season to date. He was well supported in a big stand with captain Matt McCord who made a brisk 60.

n Templepatrick U11A team advanced to the quarter-final of the Quoile Cup with a convincing win against Ballymena. The Braid boys posted 75 for 8 in their 20 overs, but TCC surpassed this with four wickets and one over to spare.

Max Wylie taking two wickets for two runs in his four overs. Scott Baxter was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Marcus Millar, Matthew McMullan and Jacob Charlton claimed one apiece, with Charlton also taking one athletic catch.

In reply, Wylie top-scored with 15, Baxter hit 10 not-out, while Aaron McCrea retired having scored 11 not-out.
