Artie has been selected based on the continued good work he has done with TCC and in local schools, as well as his work with the NCU Northern Knights youth squads.

He will head off to Dublin for a week on Monday (January 25) along with 20 other coaches selected from around Ireland and the UK to gather experience and knowledge from some of the best educators in world cricket.

This will mean TCC will be the only club in Northern Ireland to have two Level 3 coaches (Andy McCrea being the other) which also complements the Level 2 coaches the club - Mark Thompson, Ross Bryans, Colin Latham and Peter Shepherd. Second XI player Gareth Lutton is currently undertaking his Level 2 qualification.

The club also has several ECB Level 1 coaches and others with ‘Introduction to Cricket’ qualifications.

“TCC are very proud to have one of the strongest and highest qualified coaching teams found anywhere in Ireland and continue to strive to offer its membership the best opportunities. The fact that we have two coaches working with each youth team that are Level 2 or higher means our players get a higher level of advice and knowledge than most,” said TCC Cricket Development Officer Andy McCrea.

“We wish Artie well with his Level 3 course and we would like to thank Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and AIVCNI for supporting the coach development and coaching opportunities available through TCC.”
