CRICKET: Templepatrick's unbeaten run comes to an end against Holywood

Templepatrick's three-match Senior League Section 2 winning streak came to an end at The Cloughan as leaders Holywood triumphed by seven wickets.

The hosts’ problems emanated from failure to bat out their allotted 50 overs, while being restricted to a modest 129.

Skipper Ross Bryans led from the front with a brisk 24 off 25 balls, closely followed by James Jackson with 20 off 37, but the writing was on the wall when the scoreboard showed 76 for 4.

Artie Campbell (11) and Ricky Greer (19) with a top partnership of 30 led the recovery, as they advanced the score to 106 for 5. The departure of Campbell left Greer to bolster the tail, but Jordi Fettis, Josh Cowan, David Caldwell, Rhys Wallace and Nik Kane all failed to get into double figures as the innings closed on 129 in the 46th over.

McCormick was Holywood’s best bowler with 3-10; Gardener and Best each grabbed a brace, with Kennedy, Walsh and Anderson taking one each.

Holywood raced to a winning 130 for 3 in 23.3 overs, with Duddy (49 not-out) and McCormick (26) their main run scorers, while the wickets were shared by Bryans (1-14). Fettis (1-26) and Kane (1-19).

The defeat dropped TCC to joint-third alongside BISC.
