Cup win for Town seconds

LURGAN Seconds are through to the next round of the Intermediate Cup thanks to a 29 run win over CSNI at the Gordon Playing Fields.

The home side set a target of 133 to win. Andrew Dawson top scored, his attacking knock of 31 including one six that helped pull the Lurgan total to over the ton.

Peter Maxwell hit 29 and opener Neil Kilpatrick 11 as the innings closed after 33 overs.

Three early wickets by Peter Maxwell, two bowled and one caught behind by keeper Kilpatrick, saw the visitors in deep trouble with only 11 runs on the board.

With one batsman at the hospital with a suspected broken finger, it was going to be difficult for the visitors to recover from such a poor start.

C Harkness was in fine form for CSNI, but once he was clean bowled by an excellent ball from Graeme Hunter, the home team wrapped the game up in the twenty ninth over, the CSNI innings closing on 103.

Graeme Hunter returned figures of four wickets for 30 off eight overs and Peter Maxwell three for 14, also off eight overs.
