Derriaghy Under 15’s last week played in successive rounds of the Graham Cup, defeating Ards in the second round only to go out of the competition at the next stage at Carrickfergus.

On Friday the team travelled to Carrickfergus and were well beaten by a very good side. Carrickfergus batted first and reached 148-3 in their 20 overs mainly thanks to some fine striking from the Burton brothers. Derriaghy lost early wickets and after that were never really in the hunt with B Craig (24) standing alone amongst the early exchanges while C Monteith (16no) and P Hunter (16) adding some respectability to the score. In the end Derriaghy finished on 88 all out with two balls of their 20 overs remaining.

The club Under 13 XI also exited their cup competition at the 2nd round going down in a low scoring encounter against neighbours Lisburn. Some tight bowling backed up by a couple of good catches restricted Derriaghy to 57 for 8 from their 20 overs. Despite some accurate bowling from the home side Lisburn passed the required total with 2 overs and 8 wickets to spare.
