DH Christie girls win again

Coleraine schools Millburn PS and Christie Memorial PS showed how cricket continues to develop in Coleraine by reaching the Northern Ireland Kwik Cricket Finals.

Millburn in the Boys competition overcame the group stages with a 100% record after they comprehensively won their three games.

A great start helped them to a fantastic semi final win againast Harmony Hill, Lisburn.

The Coleraine boys racked up a big total as they batted first and they never looked back, winning by 40 plus runs in the end.

In the Final a strong Inchmarlo team defeated Millburn who became the first ever Coleraine team to reach the National Boys Finals.

The Millburn boys fought hard until the end but a strong bowling performance by the opposition made life difficult for them.

Christie Memorial Girls team however went one better after defeating Eglinton PS in the semi final, the Christie dominated the Final against Enniskillen PS and are crowned Northern Ireland Champions for the second year in a row.

The Girls played some fantastic cricket at Stormont in the event organised by Cricket Ireland.

Junior Cricket continues at Coleraine CC every Friday night for primary school aged children boys and girls from 6.30 to 7.30pm and the new Cricket Ireland Girls Coaching programme is at Coleraine CC on Monday nights 6.30 to 8pm.

All new members are very welcome to come along and get involved in the sport.
