DH Christie win Girls Kwik Cricket Festival

A first for girls Cricket in Coleraine on Tuesday 28 May saw the first ever Asda Kwik Cricket competition held for girls.

The festival was very successful with over 50 girls taking part and will now become an annual competition for local primary schools.

Christie Memorial, Millburn, Irish Society and Killowen battled it out over three rounds to see who would come out on top. Christie Memorial were successful in winning all three of their games and the trophy was presented to their captain Rebecca McCluney. Olivia McCloy from Killowen won Player of the Tournament and Lauren Bell from Irish Society was presented with the Fair Play award.

All the children now have the opportunity to attend Coleraine Cricket Clubs junior coaching programme each Friday night from 6.30pm-7.30pm.

Christie Memorial are looking forward to representing Coleraine at the National finals on June 19th at Stormont Cricket Grounds, Belfast.
