Duo back for Holm men

STRABANE joined Coleraine at the top of Senior One in local cricket after their win at Limavady, a result that sees the Roesiders drop two points behind the leaders.

Coleraine suffered a last ball defeat at home to Fox Lodge while Donemana chased down over three hundred to defeat Bonds Glen.

Bready remain in the race after defeating Brigade at Beechgrove and worse was to follow for Mark Simpson’s side when they lost again on Sunday at Glendermott, those two defeats mean that they are now joint third from bottom with Fox Lodge and Glendermott.

On Sunday also Creevedonnell lost their second game in two days going down to Bonds Glen although both teams looked doomed.

At the time of going to press there are five games scheduled for Saturday with one on Sunday as things really hot up at both ends of the table.

Saturday

Donemana v Limavady

What an important game for both sides. Richard Kee’s side have games in hand over the sides above them but they have all the top teams still to play. There is a slight possibility that Andrew McBrine and Ryan Hunter may be back from Australia.

Limavady’s batsmen were poor in last week’s defeat against Strabane, although they should have Stuart Thompson back for this one, they know that a defeat here will make it very difficult to win the title.

Prediction: Donemana.

Strabane v Coleraine

The top two meet at Strabane Park, the red caps have found their best form in recent games and it is no coincidence that the return of Fasal Iqbal has ensured that, they still have the top sides still to play but they are in top form.

Coleraine whether they win the league or not have had an excellent season but they know that this could be their best chance to lift the title, the loss of their pro may eventually be their downfall.

Prediction: Strabane.

Bonds Glen v Brigade

The Bee Gees got their second win of the season last Sunday: however it has come to late to save them from relegation, that said they will still be determined to get at least another win under their belts.

Brigade have been dragged into the dreaded play off spot after some poor performances, they need to get their act together very quickly if they are going to get back to winning ways.

Prediction: Brigade.

Bready v Glendermott

David Scanlon’s side after their win at Beechgrove are back in the title race and they have on paper the easier run in than the rest of the challengers with two of their games against sides in the bottom three.

Glendermott had a good weekend last time with two victories, their more experienced players came to the fore in those games with Gareth Watson, Charlie Elder and Bob Robinson excelling.

Prediction: Bready.

Fox Lodge v Creevedonnell

The Ballymagorry side occupy joint third from bottom and they have played more games than the other two sides that are with them so at least another win is needed from their last three games, they also have their remaining games at home.

The Creevies have thrown in the towel a number of weeks ago and have been struggling to get a full strength side out in recent games another defeat.

Prediction: Fox Lodge.

Sunday

Coleraine v Donemana

Another massive game involving title contenders, Ian McGregor’s side lost in the last ball of the game last Saturday and he knows that this will be one of their most difficult games of the season.

Donemana are going all out for the double, they have been magnificent to still be in the hunt after having half their side missing for the last number of weeks, these two also meet in a fortnights time at the Holm.

Prediction: Donemana.
