Duo look to end season on a high

SO the final weekend of the Long’s Supervalu Senior Two season has arrived and although issues at the top and bottom of the table have now been resolved there are still finishing positions up for grabs.

St Johnston have two games to go but both are against sides hoping to pinch second spot from the Donegal men.

The Saints are currently entertaining Burndennett in a T20 replay, that game starting last night (Tuesday) with tonight and tomorrow available to complete if necessary.

David MacBeth’s side then completes their campaign with another home game on Saturday when they entertain Drummond. There hasn’t been much between that trio as the season has unfolded and any of them could yet finish in the runner-up spot.

Drummond looked the real deal at the start of the summer as they won their first three matches before a run of two months without a victory ended any hopes of a title challenge.

Mark Doherty’s side was easily the most improved this year and having finished bottom of the heap in 2011, this has been much more like it while Saint Johnston have probably been the most consistent apart obviously from Eglinton.

The new champions sign off with a trip to relegated Killyclooney but with the promotion play-off at Burndennett in their sights now the villagers will be determined to go there in winning form.
