The Islandderry Trout Anglers were proud to present Linda Alexander from the Cystic Fibrosis charity £1304.50 from the two recent competitions held at Islandderry Fishery.

This was a great amount and will help the charity continue with its good work for people with Cystic Fibrosis.

Islandderry Trout Anglers would like to thank all who supported the competitions to help raise the money for the charity.

Out on the lake, Newcastle angler Allan Strain topped the bill with two sessions on the main lake releasing 25 fish one day and returning the next to release a staggering 50 trout including some 6lb+ fish. Allan was fishing a floating line and buzzers.

Not to be out done was fellow Newcastle angler Mark Murray who also was fishing buzzers to release 41 trout while angling partners Darrell Johnston released 32 including two at 8lb and Carl McCabe released 29.

Banbridge angler George Lyttle had a good days sport on the hollow springs lake having to stop at 17 trout released due to his arm getting sore from the fight.

Elsewhere at Islandderry in recent weeks, buzzers and small dry flies are fishing well. Benji Banks had a good day recently fishing buzzers landing a lovely 8lb6 and a 7lb8 trout and topping his all time personal best by returning 18 more fish to the water. Local angler Andy McCandless also had a good day releasing a good number of trout including a 5lb, 6lb4 and 7lb trout. Buzzers worked well for Keith Whitmarsh who landed himself a 6lb8 fish which he released back into the main lake.

The next competition is the annual all night competition and BBQ on Saturday June 22. Both lakes are open for this fly fishing only competition starting at 7pm and fishing threw the night to 7am the next morning.
