Four wicket win for theSeconds

An unbeaten 58 not out from Gareth Copeland helped Donaghcloney Seconds continue their good form on Saturday with a four wicket victory over Woodvale in the league.

Having been set a total of 183 to chase by Woodvale the Cloney started well.

The opening batsmen were all unable to build on promising starts with the top four all reaching double figures but not getting past 20. Gareth was supported ably at the wicket by Stephen Lyttle and together put on 70 to help the team from a struggling 115-6 to a somewhat comfortable sounding victory with four overs in hand.

Cloney Thirds travelled to CSNI Sixths on Saturday in the Minor Qualifying Cup. Having won the toss CSNI decided to bat on a good track and got off to a solid start until a direct hit run out from Naomi Matthews got the first wicket. Young Jobin Joy chipped in with two wickets and then Naomi, just celebrating her 16th birthday, knocked the heart out of CSNI middle order.

She took a hat-trick and followed it up with two more quick wickets to end up with 5 for 19 runs.

In a very tidy six over spell she turned the game and helped restrict the total to 120. Scoring at 7 an over Richie Clydesdale 28, Scott Armstrong 49 not out and Keith Ogle, returning from a spell out of the game, with 31 not out secured a convincing victory.
