Foyle and Limavady march on in Schools Cup

Two North West schools are in the last eight of the Ulster Bank Schools Cricket Cup and both have tough tasks to win a place in the

semi-finals.

Foyle College will travel to holders Belfast Royal Academy and Limavady Grammar School will be at home to Belfast Royal Academical Institution.

Both schools won their second round games in convincing fashion.

Limavady bowled Strabane Academy out for a paltry 39 to win by 100 runs and Foyle chased down 149 to beat Methodist College Belfast by seven wickets.

Coleraine Grammar School failed to reach the quarter finals, losing by 48 runs to Ballymena Academy.

Second round scores: Limavady GS 139 (S Nelis 33, G Kennedy 25, R Kelly 3-22, A Heywood 2-25, D Crumley 2-25),. Strabane Academy 39 (J Martin 6-7, G Kennedy 2-6, G Sandhu 2-8). Limavady won by 100 runs.

MCB 149 for 8 (P Kerr 67no, J Cole 3-19, D McCloskey 2-46). Foyle College 150-3 (A Austin 61no, M Orr 25). Foyle won by seven wickets.

Ballymena Academy 115-5 (R Moore 3-17, S Torrens 2-28). Coleraine GS 67. Ballymena Academy won by 48 runs.
