Foyle College book quarter-final spot

Foyle College will face either Wallace High School or Campbell College in the quarter finals of the Ulster Bank Schools Cricket Cup after a convincing 66-run win over Methodist College.

The foundation of victory was laid by a brilliant 90 by Bready’s wicket-keeper batsman Andrew Austin that included three ‘sixes’ and nine ‘fours’. Michael Rankin weighed in with 50 in Foyle’s huge total of 225 for 5 in their 30 overs. It was always going to be too much for the Belfast school who fell well short at 159 for 7 with Roger Long bagging three for 32 for Foyle.

Holders Limavady Grammar School have yet to play their second round tie against Sullivan Upper as have Strabane Academy against Ballyclare High School.

The full draw for the quarter finals is:

Foyle College v Wallace High School or Campbell College

Strabane Academy or Ballyclare High School v RBAI or Belfast Royal Academy

Sullivan Upper or Limadvady Grammar v Regent House

Down High School v Grosvenor Grammar School
