Gillespie brothers inspire Beuckes' side

STRABANE are now odds-on favourites to win the Billy Henderson Senior One title after easily defeating an under strength Glendermott at home on Saturday.

Jonathon Beuckes' side bowled out the visitors for just 136 and lost just two wickets. In the home side's bowling Mark Gillespie returned magnificent figures of 5 for 10 while brother Peter scored 84 not out in their reply.

Brigade moved into second spot after a surprisingly easy nine wicket win at Bready; the home side were shot out for just 73 losing their last 4 wickets for just 1 run after Johnny Thompson and Trevor Britton picked up 4 and 3 wickets respectively.

In the battle for survival Eglinton entertained St Johnston - both sides with just two points - and after dismissing the visitors for 157 the home side, thanks to a solid 39 from Karl O'Doherty, won by five wickets with three overs to spare.

There was a high scoring thriller at Fox Lodge where Donemana were the visitors; Andrew McBrine batting at four for the men from the Holm and Azhar Shaffique scored 88 and 86 respectively in a total of 273 for 7.

The Foxies due to a fine 59 from opener Jason Milligan and a half century from Dean McCarter got to within two runs of their opponents' score before they ran out of overs.

In the remaining game at Coleraine, Limavady slumped from being 170 for 5 to 187 all out thanks to some good bowling from Tim Chopra and Steven Dunn, Stuart Thompson was the Roesiders' top scorer with 62.

In reply the Bannsiders were bowled out for 123 with only three players getting into double figures with the top scorer being Mr Extras with 36 as Thompsom starred with the ball picking up three wickets.
