Good away win for Seconds

Coleraine Second XI travelled to Eglinton on Sunday in a high scoring affair, eventually coming out on top by five wickets.

Stern opposition from Jamie Millar (47) and Andrew Pierce (28) was capitalised upon by Andy Millar. Despite facing just 31 balls, the all-rounder smashed Coleraine to all-parts in a knock of 51. David Doey’s variation of flight and speed was too much for Millar though as Eglinton slumped from 172-3 off 33 overs to 220 all out. On a large field, openers Knox (19) and Matthew Douglas ran hard, putting on 47 for the first wicket. Knox’s departure only brought Peter Wallace to the crease, whose deftness on his feet and powerful stroke-play deflated the Eglinton attack. Supplemented perfectly by Douglas - whose timing during his maiden Second XI fifty brought smiles to the Coleraine spectators – Coleraine passed 100 with the loss of only a single wicket. With both having departed with the score at 140 Coleraine were far from home. It took the experience and guidance of Wilson Torrens (40 n.o.) and Kyle Martin (30 n.o.), to seal victory in style.
