Holm teenager shines for Ireland

The pair shared a century stand as the Irish made light work of an MCC total of 246.

Adam Dennison (21) also chipped in with 21.

Waringstown’s James McCollum was best with both ball and bat for the MCC, taking 2 for 23 as Ireland romped home with 5.4 overs to spare.

McCollum top scored with 75 for the visitors, with Clontarf’s Conor Kelly making 66, and Steven Barrett 34.

James Mitchell (3-31) and Rory Anders (3-32) claimed three wickets apiece, while the NW duo of McClintock (2-23) and Aaron Gillespie (2-50) each got a brace of victims.

The Irish are off to Jersey next month where they will compete with the hosts, Netherlands and and Scotland for an automatic U19 World Cup berth in India in 2016.

Meanwhile three of Northern Ireland’s top coaches have joined forces today to launch Sport Northern Ireland’s prestigious 2015 Coaching Awards.

Neil Doak, Head Coach of Ulster Rugby, Frank Fitzsimons, Antrim Senior Gaelic Football Coach and Kim Kensett-Friar, Senior Coach at Salto Gymnastics and Head Coach for Gymnastics NI at the Commonwealth Games, joined with Sport NI to call on the public to nominate coaches and coaching organisations that have made a big impact on sport over the last 12 months.
