The all-rounder is returning to Middle Road for a fifth campaign after enjoying arguably his best season yet in 2015.

Holmes struck 683 runs at an impressive average of 48.79, as well as making vital contributions with the ball, as Iain Parkhill’s side stayed up with ease.

Parkhill said: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie Holmes back to Middle Road for 2016.

“Jamie knows the club well, and we feel his re-signing is key as we look to push on from the foundation we laid last season.”

Holmes’ capture follows hot on the heels of Carrickfergus unveiling South African Pat Botha as their new overseas professional.

Botha is one of six South Africans certain to be playing in the NCU Premier League next season. Former internationals Rusty Theron and Justin Kemp are to play for Instonians and CIYMS respectively while Waringstown have secured the signature of Cobus Pienaar.

Pieter Malan is back at North Down after a superb debut campaign while Lisburn signed prolific batsman Heinrich Klaasen.
