Hunters keeping it in the family

LURGAN Cricket Club has had many sets of brothers represent them down the years.

The Johnston, McCrums, McCollums, Guys and Grieves to name just a few.

But never before has six members of the one family represented the club on the one team.

However this was the case with the Hunter family for Lurgan Thirds at Saturday’s league game at Ballymena.

Brothers Alan, Neil and Graeme and Graeme’s sons, Jamie, Jonathan and Ben all turned out for the first time together.

And the younger members of the family were certainly not outshone by their dad and uncles.

On the bowling front Jonathan took two wickets and Jamie one while on the batting front, Jamie made 20 and Jonathan 10 not out.

For the senior family members, Graeme took three wickets and two catches while Neil turned the clock back, snapping up a one handed catch at slip.

None of the senior members made it to the crease, so along with the other young members of the team, youth edged it on performances on the day.
