Jack inspires Seconds to victory

Lurgan elected to bat on winning the toss with veteran Graeme Hunter and young Callum Gibson opening the innings. Unfortunately Gibson departed in the third over for 2 allowing Neil Kilpatrick to join Hunter.

With the damp conditions, runs proved difficult to come by and with the Lurgan score on 27 the experienced Graeme Hunter was caught out allowing Peter Maxwell to join Kilpatrick. With the outfield slow, ones and twos were the order of the day, indeed there were only four boundaries in the entire Lurgan innings, with Neil Kilpatrick contributing a valuable 16 runs before being bowled in the 24th over.

Peter Maxwell continued to score steadily and had made 52 not out when the Lurgan innings finished on 129 for 7 wickets after 35 overs.

In reply, the Holywood innings never really got started. After four overs they were one run for 2 wickets and after eight overs the home side had struggled to 19 for 4. Wickets fell steadily throughout and the game finished with Holywood being bowled out for 86. Neil Kilpatrick had an excellent game behind the stumps, conceding no byes while claiming a catch and a run out. Pick of the Lurgan bowlers was Jack Harrison who returned figures of 4 for 19 runs in 7 overs.
