Junior cricket: Larne Seconds fall to defeat at Middle Road, TCC lose quarter-final

Carrick Fourths beat Larne Seconds by five wickets in a Junior League 8 match played at Middle Road on Sunday.

The visitors batted first, and scored 114 for 7 in their 25 overs with BJ McFaul top-scoring with 34, and Esler Burke with 20.

Skipper Glen Graham and Matt Campbell took a couple of wickets each for Carrick.

A very youthful Carrick side got the runs for the loss of five wickets, with Matt Campbell completing a good all-round performance by scoring 43 runs.

He received solid support from Max Burton who scored 26, and Brandon Doyle who was unbeaten on 30 at the end.

Michael Lyle and Charlie Cloke each took two wickets for Larne.

Meanwhile, a youthful Templepatrick 2nd XI was knocked out of the Intermediate Cup at the quarter-final stage when they were beaten by Downpatrick II by five wickets.

Andy McCrea’s lads posted a useful 162 for 8 in their 40 overs, with the main scorers being Simon Beattie (39), John McComb (31), Paddy Lutton (16) and McCrea (16).

In reply, the hosts scored 164 for 5, while Niall Dalton and Owen Hutchinson each took two wickets, with Johnny Ramsey claiming one victim.
