The captain like everyone else involved in their Danske Bank Senior Cup win over Killyclooney was thrilled by William McBrine’s bowling special, which saw him secure nine wickets for just 33 runs.

“The boys were just saying that it was probably the best bowling figures that we have been involved with, either playing with or against,” stated Kee.

“It was really remarkable, particularly for someone of his age to get those type of figures is amazing.”

The skipper did concede that while the Holm men would again give youth a chance, he did feel William may take another year to force his way into the side on a regular basis.

“Whenever we started the season there was obviously Willie and the two McClintock’s (Gary & William) were the younger players in the team who we wanted to try and give them as much opportunity as possible, but to be honest Willie probably might not have got as much chance as the rest of the boys, because we already have three spinners,” he added.

“But he has come into the team and from the first day when I threw him the ball at Bready, he has been immaculate ever since and he’s leading wicket taker in the North West all be it after just four games, but the amount of wickets he has got at this stage of the season is ridiculous.”

Kee would love William to finish the summer as leading wicket taker, but he does admit there will be a few challenges to over take him, even someone closer to home. “It’s very difficult to say if he can finish leading wicket taker, as his father (Junior) might have something to say about that.”
