McEleney is ‘Different Class’

THE Different Class Men’s Wear sponsored Open Stableford at Foyle saw an excellent entry with the 100 competitors enjoying fine conditions on a course in pristine condition and 12 handicapper Paul McEleney took full advantage of the favourable conditions to post an excellent winning score of 43 points.

Two points behind was James G McDaid (26) who finished on 41 points with newcomer to Foyle, Sean Doyle (17) finishing third with 39 points, and it took a 4 way 32 points break of tie to decide the hotly contested Gross prize with Cormac McGeady getting the verdict.

The visitor’s prize was claimed by Newtownstewart member Cormack McGeady (13) after he scored 37 points and Calvin Mooney (13) with 23 points won the back nine and the CSS was 36 points.

Last week’s PFS Accountants Open stableford competition was claimed by Warren McFarlan (21) with 42 points, second after a BOT finish was Dermott Caffrey (5) after he scored 38 points and Brian O’Neill (16) also with 38 points was third.

The gross winner was Cormac McGeady after he scored 31 points and Kevin McDermott (21) with 20 points won the back nine after a BOT finish and the CSS was 36 points

The Over 50’s confined competition was claimed by Pat McCaffrey (24) after he scored 40 points and Seamus Quinn (11) with 38 points was second and the CSS was 37 points.

There will be a prize presentation at Foyle tomorrow (Thursday) at 8.30pm for the following competitions and all prize winners listed below are asked to attend or send a deputy.

While the end of Summer 9 Hole Scramble for Ladies Gents and Juveniles will take place on Friday, with a shot gun start at 5.30pm.

All members taking part in the scramble are asked to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop by Friday Morning to facilitate the draw for teams, following the golf there will be a barbeque and prize presentation followed by the End of Summer Grand Draw and all members are reminded that tickets for the draw must be returned by today Wednesday.

Today there will be a club stableford competition taking centre stage, on Friday an Open stableford along with the 9 hole scramble will be down for decision.

On Saturday, the City of Derry Building Society Open stableford competition will be staged and the club sweep will be played for on Sunday.
